The Encore Cycling Cyclocross at Camp James, Irvine continued the Back On Track Productions Urban Cyclocross Series. The racing was world-class and featured another star-studded group. Mike Bell, Superbowl of Motocross Champion and 1980 Supercross Series Champion, and Motorcycle Hall of Famer brought his sons Sean, and Trevor, out to race. It was an honor to watch them all compete in cyclocross.

Discovery Channels Tony Cruise graced the Elite 1/2/3 field once more. Tony displayed patience and experience as he made his way through the field to win. Lyle Warner (Team Bearclaw), John Tzinberg (5StarFish) and Brandon Gritters (5StarFish) initially attacked Tony. Only Gritters was able match Cruz’s speed towards the end of the race. Chris Demarchi, Gritters’ teammate, refused to chase Cruz or Gritters. Cruz was able shake Gritters off and win the solo race.

The Single speed categories were once again bigger than ever. Single Speed A was a highly contested race between single speed newbie Mike McMahon and Coley King. McMahon won the race in a tight sprint. Noah Holcomb, however, managed a fourth-place finish to maintain his series lead of one point.

Monique Sawicki, a newcomer to Team Ergon-Ellsworth, upset the series leaders for the women. Monique Sawicki, a mountain biking endurance legend, outdistanced Lana Atchley and Rachell OConnell.
